Dr. Alex Satchwell
Chartered Clinical Psychologist
Dr Satchwell is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a registered Practitioner Psychologist with Health and Social Care Professionals Council (HCPC). He has extensive experience in the NHS working with adults, families, young people staff teams and students. He has worked in a range of therapeutic areas including adult mental health, learning disability, Child and Adolescent Mental Health and medical psychology. He is also an accredited supervisor for clinical psychology trainees, assistant psychologists and undergraduate psychology students.
Dr Satchwell is currently employed as a Senior Clinical Psychologist within the NHS and works with adults experiencing severe and enduring mental health difficulties. He works with a broad range of psychological difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, psychosis and bipolar disorder. He has also worked with bereavement, relationship difficulties and the psychological impact of physical illness and injury. Dr Satchwell is skilled in providing structured cognitive and neuropsychological assessment for adults and young people aged 16 and over.
Dr Satchwell is experienced in the integration of a number of therapeutic approaches and uses a person-centered approach, drawing on a number of psychological models appropriate to individual client needs. He draws on a theoretical background of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion focussed (CFT) and acceptance and commitment approaches (ACT).
Dr Satchwell is an Associate Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Northampton and has also taught at the Universities of Sheffield and Leicester. He is also a Consultant Practitioner, providing training, reflective practice, supervision and support for staff teams on a range of psychosocial needs.
