Clinical Trainee Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

Marilyn MacQueen is in the latter stages of her Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy training and is registered as a member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). She has a highly specialist skillset and is experienced in working therapeutically with young people and adults of all ages, including families (offering DBT Family Skills Work – training sessions for parents and carers).

Marilyn provides specialist assessment, consultation, and therapeutic intervention for those with a range of common psychological issues through both face-to-face and online therapy. 

She has broad-ranging expertise and experience of working with individuals who present with personality disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, and enduring mental health difficulties such as: emotionally unstable / borderline personality disorder (EUPD / BPD); addictions and substance misuse; post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); complex trauma; Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD); psychosis; mood and anxiety disorders such as depression and anxiety disorders (including panic, health anxiety, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)). Marilyn is also skilled in undertaking clinical, cognitive and risk assessments. 

Over the past seven years, Marilyn has worked therapeutically with a number of leading mental healthcare organisations including the NHS and other independent providers. She has worked as a Psychotherapist in Training for Elysium Healthcare, an independent provider of mental health services based in Milton Keynes during which she worked as part of the DBT team in a specialist personality disorder service. Previous to this, she worked for the Northamptonshire ADHD & Asperger’s Team, a specialist neurodevelopmental service, and Serendipity Psychology Services, an independent psychology and psychotherapy associate company based within Northamptonshire.

Marilyn integrates several therapeutic approaches she has been formally trained in, including Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). 

Marilyn has delivered training for Elysium Healthcare focussing on DBT Awareness for staff working on the DBT and Rehabilitation Pathway. She has presented at a conference for Elysium Healthcare on Women’s Services, as well as on her experiences of working analytically within a secure service. 

Marilyn has also been a guest lecturer at Royal Holloway University of London, for the Psychology and Criminology Undergraduate and Forensic Psychology Master’s course.
