Consulting rooms & venues
Sessions are usually held at one of our comfortable consulting rooms in Northampton, Kettering or Market Harborough. In exceptional circumstances arrangements can also be made for a psychologist to visit you at home. We also offer sessions virtually for those wishing to access it online, or those who want to combine face-to-face and online sessions.
If you have any questions that aren’t covered below, just get in touch with Serendipity Psychology today.
The best way to find out what you need to know is through booking an initial consultation which will enable you to meet a psychologist and consider whether you could feel able to work with them. A meeting will also allow you to explore the reasons that led you to access psychological help and what you hope for practically and emotionally. Selecting the right therapist can be a difficult task and may involve several consultations with different people before you find someone you feel comfortable with or who can offer the help you need.
Session length: Sessions are usually 50 minutes long and are planned with you to ensure they suit your needs. These are flexible and booked on an individual basis or in advance as a course of sessions. Sessions are available during the daytime but evening, weekend and early morning appointments are also possible.
Confidentiality is uppermost and central to our working practice; everything you share with us will remain confidential according to the British Psychological Society’s (BPS) and the Health and Care Professions Council’s codes of conduct. This means that unless there are significant concerns about your safety or the safety of others, your information will only be shared in confidential, clinical supervision in which you remain anonymous.
The length of therapy can be adapted to meet short and longer-term goals, depending on your needs.
The regularity of therapy can vary depending upon the type of therapy you choose to engage in but it is usually held weekly or fortnightly. However, this can be discussed with you based on the circumstances you present with, for example, what may be affordable to you. It may be that your therapist can set plenty of homework so you can continue making progress for less regular sessions!
