Psychologically-Minded Schools Pathway

Training, consultation and interventions for schools and educational providers of children and young people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs.

Within our team at Serendipity Psychology we have a small group of specialist psychologists who have a long standing professional background in working with children, young people and families with complex needs. These practitioners have a wealth of experience in working with schools, colleges and educational providers who may be offering a range of different provisions to their pupils. Our team recognise the importance of the role educational providers play and aim to support them in building the most effective environment for young people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs.

How might this service benefit us?

Our packages support educational providers with a wide range of complex presentations including (not limited to) children and young people have:

  • Attachment difficulties who may be within the care system, who are or have been looked-after or adopted,
  • Been exposed to trauma, abuse or bullying,
  • Are displaying emotional or mental health difficulties including anxiety, depression, complex grief, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD),
  • Been engaging in self-harm or have eating difficulties,
  • Neurodivergent traits or diagnoses including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

For children with a range of complex needs, building a trauma-informed environment where young people can heal and recover from the painful experiences they have had is crucial to ensuring they thrive; this is what we help educational providers develop. We believe that our training and consultation packages will enable your team to:

  • Better understand the presenting needs of the children and young people in your care,
  • Consider the most effective way of responding to their needs by forming intervention plans to support them to improve their emotional, behavioural and social outcomes,
  • Build reflective and psychologically-minded environments that are loyal to the core values of your team,
  • Improve the quality of your team’s teacher-parent-child relationships, reduce complaints and improve positive feedback,
  • Decrease dissatisfied parent feedback,
  • Increase staff satisfaction and the performance and mood of your team,
  • Improve your offering to your wider community.

What packages are available?

We recognise the needs of our customers are diverse and unique so we prefer to design the service we deliver around your needs and encourage you to make contact with us to consider how we might be of help. However, the following are a range of possible packages we have previously found have been beneficial to other teams we have worked with:

How much will this cost?

We encourage you to make contact with us to build a package that will meet your needs which we can advise on. An example of a recent ‘Primary’ intervention was charged at £50 per attendee for groups of 10 or more attendees attending a 2-hour training or consultation session. We would expect most of our packages to be in line with this.

Who might this be suitable for?

The online training is suitable for any education staff and we will design the intervention to meet the needs of a varied audience.
