Hi there, I am Dr Sarah Berger, and I am a clinical psychologist. I have been supporting people experiencing mental health difficulties for nine years and love my job! I have worked within the NHS with both adults and young people, with charities, and in independent practice. I have trained as a supervisor at the University of Birmingham and have provided lectures to psychology undergraduates at both Warwick University and Coventry University.
I specialise in working with people who have experienced attachment difficulties and complex trauma. This includes conducting specialised assessments, providing consultations, offering supervision to clinicians working with clients, and delivering therapy both face-to-face and online.
I am passionate about supporting clients through their recovery from trauma. I am trained in a range of therapeutic approaches, which I draw upon to meet each client’s individual needs and goals. These approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Additionally, I use Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients process traumatic memories that may have become stuck and are holding them back in their daily lives.
My approach is to ensure my clients know they have someone to accompany them on their therapy journey, helping them feel safe and understood. I also believe it is important to bring humour and playfulness into sessions, as I find that clients experience relief from some light-heartedness while dealing with traumatic memories.
I have my own clinic in Leamington Spa and offer both online and face-to-face therapy sessions, as well as supervision. I am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am an accredited EMDR therapist and am working towards becoming a consultant.
