Gemma Ainge

Counsellor & Psychotherapist: Children and Young People

Hi there, my name is Gemma, I am an Integrative Child and Young Person therapist. I work with children and young people up to the age of 25. I have experience of working with children, adolescents and young adults from various settings, including schools, charitable organisations and private practice.

I integrate a range of therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, person-centred therapy, play therapy, creative therapy, exposure therapy and trauma-informed therapy in my work. Having a wide range of skills in these modalities means I can adapt the therapy to match the child and their personal situation. Allowing for collaborative and individualised therapeutic treatment for each client.

I have experience of working with presentations of anxiety, depression, neurodiversity challenges, OCD, self-harm, suicide ideation, developmental trauma and attachment difficulties.

I hold a BSc in Psychology, a PG Dip in Counselling Children and Young People. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling psychotherapists (MBACP) and an accredited member of the National Counselling Psychology Services (NCSP (acc). My lovely dog Beau is in training to work alongside me as a therapy dog and I am currently completing an MSc in Counselling Children and Young People.
