Hello, my name is Nisa. I am a BACP-registered psychotherapist and am also completing my Master’s degree in Integrative Psychotherapy (UKCP-qualified). Aside from working with Serendipity as an Associate Therapist, I have my own independent practice and provide volunteer therapy services at a charity organisation in Stratford-upon-Avon. I mainly work in Tardebigge, Worcestershire, and also one day a week in Leamington Spa.
I work with a range of client issues, mainly centring on relational attachment and difficulties, which can arise in a number of ways: trauma and complex PTSD, complex family and marital dynamics, self-esteem issues, anxiety, depression, anger management, and many more.
I offer in-person sessions, online sessions, or a mixture of the two.
It can be really difficult to manage the stresses of different parts of life or to recognise why we are feeling a certain way. This can often be a result of early life experiences that we have learned to bury very well, meaning we can lose touch with how we are really feeling.
Seeking therapy can be a daunting task, especially if you are preparing to face issues you may not have dealt with before. If you would like help and emotional support to guide you in making things better, I offer a safe and confidential space to explore your issues in a non-judgemental way and at your own pace.
I approach therapy in a relationally psychodynamic way. That probably doesn’t mean much to most people, so I will break it down for you. It is based on the belief that human suffering, for the most part, stems from wounds inflicted in relationships throughout our lives. The blueprint of how you relate to others—how it has helped or hindered you—is a great tool for understanding how you have come to be, how it relates to your current issues, and what changes you may want to make going forward.
The client-therapist relationship we build provides valuable insight into this process. Therefore, creating an open and honest culture that is mutual, respectful, safe, and supportive will be an essential element of our sessions. If there are unhelpful patterns of relating, I aim to use our interactions to safely experiment with breaking these patterns, helping you build tolerance as we explore the issues you bring to therapy.
Working in a gentle and honest way doesn’t always come naturally, given how we are shaped by society, but it is a skill we can build together over time. It takes courage to understand ourselves on a deeper level—embracing both the aspects we appreciate and those we struggle with—and to use this understanding to reflect on how we relate to others and whether there is anything we would like to change.
The role of a therapist is not to heal or advise you on what to do, but rather to work with you to build a clearer picture, gain awareness, and deepen your understanding of yourself. This process alone can provide healing and give you greater agency in navigating life’s challenges.
