What is Online Therapy?

The team at Serendipity Psychology are pleased to offer all specialist therapies via online therapy sessions, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), couple’s counselling, family therapy and EMDR. Online therapy can be especially beneficial when it is difficult to locate a therapist who offers a particular specialist therapy locally, or you may not be able to predict where you will be at the same time every week and commuting to a therapy session isn’t possible. The more recent effects of social distancing as a result of the coronavirus has meant having the chance to access online therapy has been vital for our clients. Online therapy can be accessed either occasionally alongside face-to-face sessions, or as the sole mode of therapy. Our therapists have experience and training in delivering different therapeutic models using different platforms including Zoom, Skype and FaceTime. We are also able to offer many of our therapies through telephone counselling.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) Online Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a type of therapy that aims to help individuals understand how their thoughts about a situation affect the way they behave and feel. CBT believes that thoughts, emotions, physical feelings and behaviours are closely linked and have a constant influence on one another, therefore the client and therapist work together to change the client’s behaviours and thinking patterns. CBT online has an extensive evidence base and is a very popular therapeutic approach. It is also a versatile intervention and can be used for individuals suffering from depression, bipolar disorder, eating difficulties and anxiety disorders including obsessive-compulsive disorder and fears and phobias. CBT online can also be helpful for treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anger management and sleep difficulties.
