Our Trauma and Complex Needs Pathway is wide-ranging in its offering and aims to support those with mental health needs that may require more intense or specialist intervention. Some of the conditions we would expect to work with within this pathway include:
- Personality difficulties including borderline personality disorder (BPD) / emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD) and other personality-related difficulties or disorders
- Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or complex PTSD
- Psychosis and psychotic symptoms (including paranoia, delusions or hallucinations)
- Eating difficulties or disorders (including anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders)
- Disorders that haven’t improved following earlier interventions, for example, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex Trauma (CPTSD)
As progress is made to understand the influences and causes behind complex mental health difficulties, we are recognising that unprocessed trauma may be the source of the problem; the number of people experiencing trauma is far greater than we anticipated. For more information about what trauma is, see our information page on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
