Sally Whalley

Experienced Psychotherapist & Counsellor

Sally Whalley is a highly experienced counsellor with over 15 years of experience, working in different settings including GP surgeries, charities, schools, independent healthcare as well as in her own private practice. She is an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, a qualified supervisor and tutor on counselling training courses.

Sally has experience of working with a wide range of mental health difficulties, offering both short- term and long- term support. She has worked with adults and young people presenting with difficult issues such as self- harm, OCD and complex anxiety. She has been responsible for running a counselling service in secondary schools for over twelve years, ensuring appropriate therapy and support is offered to all young people accessing the service. She runs her own independent practice, working with a wide range of issues.

Sally’s integrative approach means that she can adapt to the needs of each individual she works with.

Her priority is to build a trusting authentic relationship and in so doing she uses the Person-Centred approach. She can offer Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for such issues as OCD, phobias, generalised anxiety and depression and Transactional Analysis (TA for clients experiencing relationship or communication difficulties.  For deeper more entrenched problems, Sally can use skills and knowledge gained from her training in psychodynamic approaches and in schema therapy to help clients with unhelpful or confusing patterns of responses originating from early childhood and adolescence experiences.
